HPV vaccination service - all you need to know
-
This service is recommended for patients aged 9 and over who missed, or are not eligible for, the NHS vaccine and wish to protect themselves.
The vaccine helps protect against HPV-related conditions, including cancers of the cervix, vulva, and anus, as well as genital warts and lesions. However, it does not treat or cure existing infections.
-
This service isn’t suitable for:
Pregnant patients (however it can be given during breastfeeding)
Those with a known hypersensitivity to a previous vaccine
Those who have previously received a full course of HPV vaccine.
-
At your appointment, our pharmacist will begin with a short consultation to review your medical history and ensure the HPV vaccine is safe and appropriate for you.
If everything is clear, the vaccine will be administered quickly to minimise discomfort.
Afterward, you’ll be asked to stay in the pharmacy for around 15 minutes so we can make sure you feel well before leaving.
We’ll also provide aftercare advice and answer any questions you may have about the vaccination.
