Flu vaccination
Protect yourself this flu season with our vaccination service. The vaccine reduces your risk of serious illness, and if you do catch flu, symptoms are usually milder. Annual vaccination is recommended, as protection decreases over time and the vaccine is updated each year.
Flu vaccination service - all you need to know
-
This service is recommended for anyone who is eligible for the flu vaccine, particularly those at a higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu.
-
This service isn’t recommended if you are allergic to an ingredient in the vaccine or have had a serious allergic reaction to a previous dose of the vaccine.
-
The side effects of the flu vaccine are typically mild and improve within 1 to 2 days.
They can include:
pain or soreness where the injection was given
a slightly raised temperature
an aching body
More serious side effects such as a severe allergic reaction are very rare. Our team are trained to handle allergic reactions and treat them immediately.
-
The vaccine is offered on the NHS every autumn and winter.
You can get it for free on the NHS if you:
are aged 65 or over
have certain long-term health conditions
